Abstract

Corruption, inefficiency, and a lack of transparency continue to be major concerns in India's welfare distribution, which includes programs such as food subsidies and cash transfers. The decentralised, tamper-proof ledger system of blockchain technology enables transparency and efficiency in systems. This paper investigates how, in the Indian setting, blockchain technology can bring transparency, efficiency and safety. Central to these, it also considers questions of scale, infrastructure, and policy constraints, suggesting paths forward. This paper endeavours to present a thorough knowledge on the potential and limitations of blockchain technology for better streamlined benefit distribution across India
